We did the homework before we knocked on anything.

Before building, we studied every serious mutual-aid effort we could verify — and, just as carefully, the ones that collapsed.

Three rules came out of all of it and govern everything we do: no eligibility tests, ever (the solidarity floor — help that makes people audition isn’t mutual aid); amplify what exists, duplicate nothing (this neighbourhood already has real institutions — we verified which ones); and the network is a kit plus a rhythm plus a page, never a headquarters.

Published v1 on the operator’s word, 16 Aug 2026. Independent re-verification of every claim continues; corrections publish here, in place, as always.

We never handle money. No donations are taken here or anywhere — if you want to give money, give it directly to the verified organizations in the directory.

Volunteer-run and non-partisan — no party, no candidate, no memberships, nothing for sale. Beaches–East York Mutual Aid Networks (“BEY Mutual Aid”) is part of Toronto’s Mutual Aid Networks: a network of networks — nobody owns mutual aid.
