York students split two ways that both matter for this page. First, undergrad vs. grad: undergrads are represented by the York Federation of Students (YFS); graduate students by the York University Graduate Students' Association (YUGSA) — two separate unions with two separate health plans, two separate legal-aid pictures, and different emergency-money doors. Second, Keele vs. Glendon: York is a two-campus school, and several services below (laptop borrowing, campus recreation, the counselling clinic) run separately at each campus with their own hours, facility, or eligibility quirks — that split is stated on every entry where it applies. Every entry below is labelled with which student group it's for (all York students / undergrad / grad / international) and which campus(es) it actually operates at.

York students facing sudden financial hardship have five separate emergency-money doors, gated by different eligibility slices depending on who you are — undergrad, grad, international, or a specific faculty. Being turned away from one doesn't mean you're out of options.
YUGSA Student Hardship Fund (grad) Up to $300 per applicant (varies with application volume) for YUGSA members facing unforeseen financial difficulty — picket-line hardship, job loss, or urgent financial need are the provider's own listed priority cases. Regular deadlines August 1, December 1 and April 1; apply online with a 200–500 word statement of financial need to finance@yugsa.ca. York University Student Counselling, Health & Well-being (SCHW) Free single-session walk-in counselling and short-term counselling, in-person and virtual, plus support groups. A separate Health Services stream offers nurse clinic consultations, vaccine programs and wellness/health-education programming. Both Keele and Glendon run their own SCHW presence — Glendon's page confirms an on-site counselling and health service distinct from Keele's, alongside a shared Virtual Well-being Hub. York Federation of Students (YFS) — Legal Support (undergrad — full-time only) Free legal advice and document assistance for all full-time York University undergraduate students — family/criminal law, debt, landlord-tenant conflicts, corporate/commercial law, real estate, intellectual property, immigration and government-agency issues — from a named lawyer via email or in-person appointment. Contact legal@yfs.ca, 336 First Student Centre, Keele campus. yfs.ca/legal-support For: full-time York University undergraduate students only.
Honest gap: no YUGSA-run legal-advice service was found. YUGSA's own services page describes general "advocacy" — helping grad students navigate university administration and resolve problems — but names no dedicated legal-advice line, lawyer, or document-review service the way YFS does for undergrads. Grad students needing legal help currently have no confirmed York-specific door; the base guide's Downtown Legal Services and Osgoode CLASP entries (open to low-income Toronto residents generally, not York-gated) are the nearest fallback — see Student Survival.

York University Libraries Laptop Borrowing (Glendon Campus) Free laptop borrowing — 5 Dell Latitude 5440 laptops, first-come first-served, no reservations — from Frost Library, Glendon campus. Loans run up to 24 hours (renewable if another device is free, otherwise a 30-minute wait before re-borrowing). Both campuses run their own recreation facility, separately priced and separately booked — a membership at one doesn't cover the other.
York University Campus Recreation / Tait McKenzie Centre (Keele campus) Fitness centre, 30+ weekly group fitness/aerobics/cross-training classes, drop-in sports, intramural teams, pool access and swim lessons. Register via the RecYork portal online or in person at Tait McKenzie Client Services (416-736-5185, taitmck@yorku.ca); a PAR-Q health screening is required. A single drop-in class costs $15, fully credited toward membership if you enrol within 7 days. yorkulions.ca/recreation For: York students, Keele-campus facility. Honest gaps — things York students will look for that the atlas doesn't have yet
A career closet / free professional-attire lending program. No York equivalent of the "career closet" programs common at other North American universities surfaced. York's Career Centre (careers.yorku.ca) publishes advice on interview attire, but no dedicated free-clothing-lending program.
No legal-advice service confirmed for graduate students. See the legal section above — YUGSA's own page describes only general advocacy, not a dedicated legal-advice door the way YFS runs one for undergrads.
Glendon's own student union (GCSU/AÉCG) has no confirmed individual student benefit distinct from what's already cited here. Its own site (yuconnect.yorku.ca/GCSU) describes governance structure, clubs support, and social/orientation programming, but no concrete food, health, legal, or emergency-funding service of its own — Glendon students' concrete resources run through GAC (athletics, cited above) and the York-wide YFS/YUGSA/FGS doors, not through GCSU directly. Not a rejection of GCSU's existence — a statement that its own page gave nothing citable beyond what's already in this guide.
A confirmed Glendon-specific food bank distinct from the Food Support Centre. A mental-health- club-run resource page (not an official York or YFS page) listed a "Food 4 Thought" on-campus food bank at the Student Centre, 4700 Keele St — this appears to be the same Food Support Centre already cited above under a different or older name, not a separate program. No Glendon-specific food-bank pickup point was found — Glendon students needing food support currently rely on the Keele-based Food Support Centre's email/phone intake.
Campus-specific childcare with a confirmed student-priority benefit. The Lee Wiggins Childcare Centre operates on York's Keele campus (Room 201, First Student Centre) and describes itself as serving "members of York University and neighbouring communities" — but its own site does not state that York students get priority admission, a discount, or any York-student-specific benefit over the general public. Because this guide only cites what's run by or exclusively for York students, it doesn't qualify as a full entry here; a real childcare facility exists on campus, but no student-specific gate was confirmed. No separate campus-specific student-parent bursary was found either.
No separate part-time-undergraduate students' union. Unlike TMU (which has TMAPS for part-time/continuing-ed students), no York equivalent surfaced in this review — YFS and YUGSA appear to be York's only two student unions, split by undergrad/grad rather than by full-time/part-time status.
