The east-end by-elections

Two seats in Toronto’s east end are being filled this summer, three days apart. This page is the practical layer and nothing else: the dates, the official candidate lists as the election authorities publish them, each candidate’s own official page, the all-candidates debates, and every way you can cast a ballot. It does not tell you who to vote for, and it does not rate anyone.

How and when to vote

• Vote by mailApply online or at the office by August 25, 6 p.m. A completed mail-in ballot has to arrive back by election day.

The candidates

The ballot is final. Elections Canada issued the confirmed list of candidates on August 12, 2026 — six candidates, no independents.

Each candidate gets one official link, chosen the same way for everyone: their own campaign website if they have published one, otherwise their party’s page for them, otherwise the party announcement naming them — and “no official page found” where none of those exists. • Vote by mailApply by 6 p.m. on August 28. Your completed kit has to be received by Elections Ontario by 6 p.m. on September 3 to be counted.
• Advance votingWednesday, August 26 – Friday, August 28, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., at any advance voting location in the riding.
• Election dayThursday, September 3, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., at your assigned voting location.

The ballot is not final yet. The names below are the candidates registered as of August 14, 2026, from party announcements and local reporting. Nominations close August 20, 2026 at 2 p.m., and Elections Ontario publishes the official list only after that — so this list can still grow, and a name here is not confirmed on the ballot until Elections Ontario says so.

Every source is linked above rather than summarised, so you can check any line of this page against the body that published it.

This page carries no survey numbers, no forecast and no judgement of any candidate or party. Every candidate in a race is listed the same way, in the same order rule, with the same kind of link. If something here is wrong or out of date — especially after the provincial nominations close on August 20 — tell us through the Harvest and it gets fixed.
